![]() Didn't explored with it, so I can't say much.ĭidn't explored with the Washing pole, but the reach is a plus, of course.ĭon't have the Chaos blade. Manslayer is better than the Uchikatana stats wise : equivalent scaling (if I recall), better base damage and poison damage. The only problem is it's ridiculous durability (20), but it's seem that dual wielding it allowed me to travel from one bonefire to another without much problems, using reparation powder once in a while.ĭual wielding them is like dual wielding longswords moveset wise. The right handed strong attack pierce shields, which is good. It's cool (transparent blade, even if it's not really invisible) and the damage where higher than my infused blacksteel katanas. (Dual wielding) Darkrift katana was my main choice, upon infusing it. This makes it a bad choice for infusion, because of it, in my opinion.ĭual wielding katanas have the same moveset as a dual wielding weapon, except for the strong attack, whitch is a vertical scissor-like attack.ĭidn't tried Uchikatana, because It seems to be the weakest, damage and scaling wise (I upgraded it though, for science). With 40 dex, your scaling damage for a "pure" Blacksteel katana is +160/180 damages and drops to +80 upon infusing it. So good that even when you infuse it, the blade keep it's S scaling. Is that correct?ĭual wielding Blacksteel Katana is one of the best Dex build choice. Infusion is like a permanent poison or bleed buff that just stacks on top of the DEX scaling. I hear that Infusion is the new thing and it doesn't take away from the scaling of the weapon right? It's not like the elemental weapons in Dark Souls 1 where the damage was set. It's such an improvement over what I had before. Unfortunately the Uchigatana pales in comparison to the speed and moveset it had in Dark Souls 1, but it will have to do. I finally made my way to the Iron Keep and I now have an Uchigatana + 9. If you have Darkdrift in the right hand the dual wield strong attack is the cross slash that 2 straight swords do, while if you have Manslayer/any other katana you get the same strong attack as dual daggers. I'm currently Dual Wielding Darkdrift and Manslayer. ![]() The last being the Washing Pole, which you can find in.Dragon Shrine? And able to be bought from a merchant i believe.i think it's Ornifex? 3 of the katanas you need to get to Iron Keep to acquire, while the other 2 are in the area beyond Drangleic Castle. Or to be more accurate, RNG on RNG on RNG. I'm not sure what the difference the beserker blade is to the uchi though, maybe that's the one you want? It's an utter bitch to get though, total RNG. Darkdrift having the shield piercing ability and a practically invisible blade and the Manslayer with a poison blade. Dark Souls 2 has some more interesting katanas though. I always liked the iaito more than the uchi, by far. Whoah, you did not just say the blacksteel/iaito moveset was bad. It sounds like they increased the damage at the price of speed. The Uchigatana was one of the fastest weapons in Dark Souls 1. It usually breaks their poise in no more than two hits. Two handing the Uchigatana has made killing most enemies very easy. I guess the katanas just make up for it with damage since they scale really good. They are certainly usable, I've been doing just fine with them, but when I switch to a normal sword and swing it I am blown away by how fast it is in comparison. Maybe I'm crazy, but the katanas seem really slow in DS2. It is also 3 pounds lighter than the blacksteel. Uchigatana has A scaling in Dex and E in strength. The two handed heavy attacks on the uchi seem to take a little less stamina, but I think it's a dumber looking animation compared to the blacksteel. The two handed light attacks are the same between the two swords. The Uchi one handed heavy attack starts with the pierce and goes into a upward diagonal slash. All the attack speeds between the two seem to balance out to be almost identical. | Please use /r/DarkSouls3 for DS3 content.I only have the Blacksteel and Uchigatana at the moment.
